Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Trinity Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
the Bible
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God as inspired by the Holy Spirit. We believe the Word to be totally true and infallible, the standard by which all other revelations are measured.
The trinity
We believe there is one God who reveals Himself to us in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are the same God. They have the same nature, attributes, perfection, and are worthy of the same honor and obedience.
god the father
We believe the Father created all things and is continually active in all He created, a “participating presence” in all things. He is faithful to fulfill every promise and He works all things for good to those who love Him, ever seeking a relationship with every man, woman, & child. This is why He sent His Son Jesus to redeem us.
The lord Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus was with the Father before the beginning of time. At the appointed time He became a man, was born of a virgin, and was tempted in all ways as we are. Jesus came to reveal the Father to a fallen world. He was both fully God and fully man-the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form. He died on the cross where He took our sins upon Himself and paid the penalty for them. Then He rose from the grave, victorious over death, giving us the promise of eternal life. He then ascended into Heaven where He continually intercedes for us, and at the proper time He will return for us to unite us with the Father.
the Holy Spirit
We believe that, after Jesus ascended to the Father, He sent the Holy Spirit to the Church as counselor, teacher, and comforter on the day of Pentecost. He now dwells in every believer and unites all believers into one body, the Church. He is the source of all power and service, restraining evil in the world, convicting mankind of sin, and sealing all believers until the day of redemption. We also believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit should be active in the Church in order that the Church might reveal the full glory of Jesus.
salvation
Repentance and faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ produces salvation through faith in His shed blood, “not by works lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 5:9
Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe in the filling, or baptism, in the Holy Spirit by the Lord Jesus Christ. This may occur at the time of, or after, conversion. This gift, which cannot be earned, is evidenced by overflowing joy, praise, and often speaking in other tongues, enabling the believer to walk in the power of God in all areas of his life.
water baptism
We believe that water baptism by immersion is the means by which the believer receives victory over sin by putting off the old sin nature and putting on the nature of Christ. In doing this, the believer participates in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
